约翰逊在周六与开拓者的比赛中只打了5分钟就因伤提前离场，赛后经过详细检查，确认为右膝半月板撕裂。本赛季，约翰逊投出43.1%的三分命中率，场均得到13分。
在贾伊-克劳福德与球队产生分歧达成不出场协议的情况下，约翰逊升入首发，在他伤停之后，科里-克雷格将担任太阳首发大前锋。今年还是约翰逊的合同年，明年夏天他的四年合同就要到期，届时会成为受限制自由球员。
